  • Design - In the 1940's, Saab's chief designer, Sixten Sason, drew the plans for a car that would eventually becomes Saab's first production car - the Saab 92. It had a profile inspired by the cross section of an aeroplane's wing and a classical teardrop shape. As Saab were not a wealthy company, they had to make this design last. The Saab 92 commenced production in 1950 and Sason's classical design was used through the Saab 92, 93 and 96 range until the last Saab 96 rolled off the factory line - in 1980.
